What Parents Left Behind, Inc. is All About
Parents Left Behind, Inc. is a 501c3 approved non-profit organization located in Shepherdsville, KY just minutes outside of Louisville, KY. Our goal for this organization is to bring awareness to our community, that losing a child is a life changing event that can affect a person for the rest of their life. Many people will struggle with their loss and need support throughout their journey, while trying adjustment to life without their child. Parents Left Behind, offers support to all parents no matter the age of their child at the time of loss, from miscarriage to adult. We are here for you and your family.
Losing a child is the hardest journey the creators of Parents Left Behind , Inc. have ever been on and want to be there to help others in similar situations be able to move through their grief. We hope that by helping others we can inspire those who have loss to become strong enough to reach their hands out to another grieving parent. We want people to know they are not alone in their grief and that there are others in every different stage of loss that are there to help them and that we will continue to help them for as long as they need or want. The pain of losing a child has no expiration, it's not something that goes away or fades and we will never expect you to "get over it." We know that the pain you feel is something you will learn to live with it in time, sometimes you have to take it day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. Parents Left Behind, wants to be there to help all who have lost their children learn to live with their pain and to know that they have a friend there to share it with, instead of going through it all alone.
How Parents Left Behind, Inc. began
No parent, or parent to be, should have to imagine the loss of a child.
Unfortunately many parents do lose children and are forced to learn a
new way of living.
The founders Trisha Skaggs Eskridge and Nichole Cavote, both
experienced this loss in 2006. After meeting each other at their son's

The parents who are left behind from the loss, wants to remember their
child, talk about their child, celebrate and cry on their child's

losses helped them to know that what they were experiencing and feeling
were completely normal. Most importantly, that they were not as alone
as they had once thought they were. There are so many stories!
Trisha & Nichole realized that they were a part of a much bigger
group than anyone could have ever imagined. They were NOT alone in their
After almost four years of enduring their losses and trying to help each
other find a new way of living, without their children. Trisha decided
to start an organization for all parents who go through this loss. With
Nichole's help they created a non-profit organization for mothers and
fathers who are grieving the loss of a child. They wanted an
organization where parents can share their children without fear of
rejection and in hopes of finding support from others.
